Client Requirements

The Road to a better Lighting

We began by developing a comprehensive blueprint of the lighting design, meticulously detailing the placement, angle, intensity, and style of each fixture throughout the home. This blueprint encompassed not only the primary lighting but also included indirect lighting elements such as tape lights to enhance mood and ambiance.

Additionally, it outlined the strategic locations for all lighting controls and the necessary wiring to support each component, ensuring a seamless integration of lighting elements throughout the space.

Challenges

The lighting fixtures required for this project were originally designed for “new construction housing” architectural setups. However, the homeowner was unwilling to remove the entire ceiling sheetrock throughout the home.

By working meticulously from the attic, we engaged in precise measuring, planning, and careful cutting. This approach allowed us to successfully remove all existing recessed lighting and install the new housing with minimal sheetrock repair.

1.8 Miles of cable

The tunable white fixtures required a combination of both line voltage and low voltage wiring. To achieve the desired solution, additional wiring for network, keypads, and audio systems were used. This extensive installation process involved running over 1.8 miles of new cable throughout the home.

Converting a traditional lighting system to a panelized
lighting solution

The customer required simple, elegant control of the lighting system, minimizing the number of visible controls throughout the house and avoiding multiple light switches in each room. To meet this request, we removed all traditional switches and implemented a full panelized lighting solution, replacing them with a single, elegant keypad in each room, providing both simplicity and style.

Centralized Technology Hub

All the home’s technology is housed in a streamlined control room, including a comprehensive panelized lighting solution, that can remotely monitor and control every light and outlet, track energy consumption, and fine tune the home’s lighting for optimal efficiency.

Before

Inadequate lighting failed to provide sufficient task light for cooking and other activities requiring bright focused light.
The existing setup also caused shadows and dark spots throughout the space, making it difficult to work
efficiently and comfortably.
Additionally, the space lacked the elegance and beauty that proper lighting could bring.

After

The kitchen now features fully tunable white architectural and LED lights that deliver bright, daylight-quality illumination whenever needed. With the press of a button, the lighting effortlessly transforms into a warm, inviting glow, perfectly suited for relaxed evenings. In addition, the system can be set to automatically follow the natural daylight cycle, seamlessly adjusting to the time of day to create the ideal ambiance.

Before

The dining room had uninspiring builder-grade lighting that failed to adequately illuminate the space. The table lacked focused lighting, and there was no dedicated lighting to showcase the artwork, leaving the room full of shadows and inconsistent illumination, undermining both functionality and aesthetic appeal.

After

The full tunable white architectural lighting allows the owners to effortlessly transform the mood and appearance of the room by adjusting the light temperature. This flexibility allows for dynamic changes, from a warm, inviting glow to a cooler, more vibrant ambiance. The gold leaf paint on the ceiling beautifully shifts from a rich gold to a shimmering silver, enhancing the room’s versatility and enabling the perfect setting for any occasion.
